Frequently asked questions

  • These recommendations sound specific to product teams. Will they work for my (consulting/agency/internal tools/backend-only) team?
While some recommendations do make assumptions about how your team and organization work, most are usable by any kind of team. You might even be able to try them in your marketing, HR, finance or support teams. If you do, we'd love to hear about it. For the other recommendations, you can simply reject them and you won't hear about them again. If you'd like to try them out later, you can do so from your Settings page.
  • We have our own process here. Your suggestions won't fit.
Our recommendations aren't meant to turn your process on its head - those kinds of large start-again-from-nothing changes are as healthy as "we'll just rewrite it". Instead, each recommendation can be taken piecemeal when you're ready, and reverted later. Think of them as learning experiments. Keep in mind:
    • doing too many at once gives you unclear results.
    • if you try it and it works, great! Keep doing it and try another experiment.
    • If it doesn't fit, stop doing it. In fact, Mr Nobody works better when you revert some practices, because it learns your style and what works for you, and adapts.
  • If I only take some Agile practices, that's not real Agile. Won't I end up with some weird Frankenstein process?
No. While there are certainly ways to combine Agile and Waterfall that are the worst of both worlds, every organization that claims to be doing Agile is doing something slightly different. And that's perfectly OK. What matters is that you regularly identify problems in your process and try new things.
  • Shouldn't I hire a consultant for this?
Getting help from someone with expertise can be a great idea. We're not going to mince words about it - if you have deep-seated problems in your organization that you can't deal with on your own, you might need some human help. But in many cases, if your team already feels empowered and just want to work better, Mr Nobody is there to support you as you maintain and improve your ways of working.
